Industrial and Mining Reclamation
Industrial
reclamation can provide significant challenges with
regards to soil conditions, soil erosion, establishment
of vegetation, and rehabilitation of watercourses to
enhance fish & wildlife habitat. Addressing these
issues should be part of a comprehensive erosion control
and re-vegetation / plan for both industrial reclamation or mining reclamation.
A
soil bioengineering approach, in combination with conventional
engineering, can provide the tools needed to address
these various site conditions. Terra Erosion Control
has been involved in pipeline right-of-way reclamation projects, both in north and south America, including
implementing work in right-of-way crossings or adjacent
to riparian areas. We have successfully prescribed and
implemented the rehabilitation of a re-constructed waterway
on an overburden mining dump in the oil sands region
of northern Alberta . We have also completed large projects
on contaminated industrial sites in southern British
Columbia where we both developed and implemented the
treatments.
